Strong criticism of inclusion: "Students have different needs"

An increasing number of researchers question whether the focus on physical inclusion in regular classrooms benefits students with autism and ADHD, who often struggle with sensory sensitivity and concentration issues. Mona Holmqvist, editor of the new anthology Specialdidaktik ("Special Education"), emphasizes that different students need different solutions—and this can sometimes mean teaching in smaller groups or individually. “Flexibility needs to improve in Swedish schools,” she tells the magazine Special Nest.
