The Zlatan statue has been completely renovated after being vandalized several times, but will not be put up again for several years. This is what the municipal board's work committee in Malmö decided this spring.
Even before the statue was vandalized the first time, Roger Johansson, professor here at the Department of Educational Sciences at Lund University, began to draft a scientific article about the statue, together with colleagues Helena Tolvhed, docent at Stockholm University and Per-Markku Ristilammi, professor at Malmö University.
The article was recently published in both English and Swedish, then with the title "Zlatan as a monument and mirror of the times". In it, the authors highlight the Zlatan statue as a clear example of how a monument to a person is not just an aesthetic decoration, but a symbol that contains many double-edged messages.
