Graduate school in subject teaching
Lund University’s management finances a graduate school in educational sciences specialising in subject teaching.
Educational Sciences is a multi- and interdisciplinary knowledge area. The general goal for research studies in educational sciences is to contribute to the scholarly development of knowledge within learning, teaching, educational systems, schools and the teaching profession.
Research studies are an important part of the University’s mission and responsibility and, as a doctoral student – as you will be called if you are admitted to research studies – you are an important part of research at Lund University.
The study programme covers 240 credits, corresponding to four years of full-time study. In practice, it often takes a little longer. The study programme concludes with the doctoral thesis. As a doctoral student, you always have at least two supervisors who guide you through the programme. One of them is appointed as your principal supervisor. Most doctoral students have some form of employment at the department. Often, their work duties include teaching undergraduate students. The PhD programme includes independent study courses, work on the thesis and cooperation with the supervisor. The structure of the study programme and the admission requirements vary to some extent between faculties and subjects.
